Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS)

Malaysia government recently introduce a system to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy in processing all international students applications intending to study in Malaysia. They set up this body called Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) to carry out all applications processing related to international students admission in Malaysia.

EMGS is a subsidiary of the Malaysian Ministry of Education which serves as the sole processor of visa applications for international students planning to study in Malaysia. Below is a list of the services EMGS offers:

  • Assistance with student policy implementation on behalf of the Ministry of Education.
  • Educational research work and development.
  • Collection of student information as well as publishing and dissemination of said information.
  • Marketing Malaysia as a go-to international country for various educational services.
  • Facilitation of auditable, efficient and transparent tracking and issuing of students passes.

This new system allows centres such as ILC to submit all applications for student visa to the EMGS on international students’ behalf. The entire process will be centralized so officials can guarantee consistency, efficiency and transparency.

See the chart attached below to get an idea of how long the process takes as well as all the procedures you have to go through to apply for a student visa. We advise all students to carefully study our chart and read notices thoroughly to ensure that you fully grasp all the steps you have to take to get a pass. Once you have applied, feel free to visit www.educationmalaysia.gov.my to track your application. Track your application here

We require all international students interested in applying to ILC to undergo Medical check-up at their home country. After medical check-up is done in your home country then the results should be forwarded to us so we can submit them to EMGS along with the fee for processing your application. Failure to do so will result in your application being cancelled.

When you arrive in Malaysia, you will also be required to undergo a Post-Arrival Medical check-up at EMGS panel clinic. This should be done within 7 working days after you have entered Malaysia.

Only the Malaysian Immigration Department officers are authorized to issue or deny student visas and each application will be reviewed according to the guidelines and rules provided by the Malaysian Immigration Department.
